Originally titled, Transmutable Creature of Two Worlds, this body of work recorded the existence of the spiritual world influencing the physical world. On a personal level I painted the psychological struggle between my limited understanding of God and the transforming force of trying to connect with a Spirit greater than and beyond me. As I was influenced internally by God’s Spirit, so too the paintings began to show qualities associated with the ethereal such as: luminosity, weightlessness, space, and vibrancy. The fleshiness of oil paint was reformed and transformed and freed to express qualities beyond what it was. The paintings visually articulated the outcome of my research and experience which was reconciliation between me as a limited physical being reformed by the unlimited Spirit of God. ~July 2011~
