In Animalistic, two themes fueled the imagery: a broken heart, and the acceptance of death. I was looking to nature to find meaning. I found a correlation between animal and human needs, territorial battles, and hierarchies. I also saw these connections in anthropological studies of politics—people behaved like animals.
I saw that according to nature, “good” and “bad” were relative, and the judgment of any person on anything was relative. I was trying to be aware of the multiple sides of the situation at the same time. The work reflects the ambiguous and uncertain emotions that my point of view creates. ~ 6/24/2016~
